Shantung Silk Caftan by Design Thai Bangkok (1960s)
Hand-tailored Thai silk caftan dress from the 1960s. Floor length with bell sleeves. The tailoring is exceptional: bound seams, blind sleeve and bottom hems, inseam pockets, fully lined with a metal zipper up the back followed by hook and eye closures. Black shantung silk is soft, light-to-medium weight, textured with a bit of slub. Blue, green, gold, and black silk has a woven texture and medium weight; the gold threads are metallic and reflect light beautifully. Stunning all around.
